The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is an influential institution funded by the nation’s public utilities to conduct research and development for the advancement of the power industry. In its Electricity Roadmap for the Future, EPRI refers to this high-power electronics development as the Second Electronics Revolution - now well on its way to reaching fruition

Æon Corporation’s proprietary modular DC power systems provide the means to this end today. The Company is the first to focus totally on this approach - which will be the way of the future.

EPRI’s DC microgrid project, now in design, calls for decentralized generation facilities distributing DC current to smaller “neighborhood” networks. All renewable energy sources -- wind, solar, fuel cells, etc. -- generate direct current. Distributed power sources in the future will all utilize one or more of these methods. It only makes sense to provide appliances that will efficiently operate on DC without the necessity of inverting to AC, eliminating this costly, inefficient, and unnecessary step.
